Our family has been a little sad the last couple of days……missing friends, memories, and transition. No doubt about it, we are excited to see what God wants to do in our next chapter of life, and specifically, planting Origin Church. We get up today choosing to think right and accept God’s will as His best for us. The loneliness is there, I guess, because we are starting over- new friends, new church, new life. That’s tough to palate sometimes. However, it always gets better!
What you will see in the ebb and flow of life in general is the battle of the mind. Should I just accept what comes my way each day, reactively, or do I proactively attack my day and change the world? I think the latter! We must discipline what we think about the day, every day. It’s always been a challenge for me. It’s much easier to dwell on the negative than to think positive thoughts. Well, we have a challenge from Genesis. Moses and God were having a conversation and God said, “Tell them I am that I am.” Now, if we’re created in His image, we have some “I am” in us, don’t we? That translates, “To be; I am becoming.” That means we can rest in Him, and literally have the “mind of Christ” throughout every conversation and experience along the way, and people will actually feel His presence on you. Think about it this way, Shane- (I’m lecturing to me) – You are being defined by God right now. Our next chapter of development is taking place because “I am” is a verb form, and not a noun package. In other words, He’s not finished with us. Everything is present active tense.
God has something for ALL of us today! Watch the little things today.
Amazing blog! What you write about our Lord is full of tenderness…obviously written from a heart that knows Him. I’ve always been comforted knowing that He gives to us each day “new mercies”. We all desire to reflect His glory…but in order to reflect His glory, we must first spend time with Him in prayer…absorbing His glory.
Please, keep writing…the words you write nourish the soul.
