Oftentimes pastors and people feel like they cannot participate in a financial partnership with a new church plant or some other organization, simply because they cannot afford to give $500 or a $1,000 per month.  They put a value figure in their minds and if they can’t achieve that, then they feel embarrassed to commit a small amount.  You shouldn’t feel that way!  Every dollar and every commitment matters!  The biblical widow and her mites prove this to be true.  My mom and dad also proved this to be true when they put into my hands .25 each Sunday as a little boy, and taught me how to give.  It has translated all these years into greater gifts as Kim and I have partnered with many projects and people due to our understanding of Biblical Stewardship.

Here’s a question: Would you like to be able to partcipate in a particular fundraiser, church plant, or charity?  Well, then, no gift is too small, ever!!  The USA Today wrote an article on this very subject. They noticed that in the political campaigns, small donors are increasing impact.  Both sides are increasingly funding their entire campaigns through donations of $200 or less.  One has $225M, another has $149M, and the other has raised $71M.  More than half of the $194M that one of the candidates has raised from January through March came from small donations.  They’re calling this a “small donation” outreach!  High schoolers are giving in $5, $10, and $50 increments while they are in school.  These people giving these donations range from being students, blue-collar workers, to retirees.  Politically, there’s a campaign cap of what you can give, which is $2,300.  Spiritually, there is no cap and the dividends are even higher!  Small gifts are important because they add up with other small gifts to make large gifts.  Get involved today!  You can even do it online.  My friend Allen Shamblin wrote a song called, “The Older I Get the Better I Was.”  Make sure that is true in your generosity journey.  You don’t want to be at the end and wish you had done more, when you could have been a part of a lot with just a little.  It makes sense.
